Hajiji Noor is new Sabah Chief Minister
Sabah Bersatu chairman Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor is set to be sworn in as the state’s 16th chief minister today. Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has unanimously named Hajiji, who is also the Sulaman State Assemblyman, as the new Sabah Chief Minister. He stressed that the new state government will ensure that the problems of the people and the manifesto as well as the promises in the Sabah State Election will be fulfilled. Asked about the line-up of Cabinet ministers, Hajiji answered briefly it remains a secret and would announce it after taking the oath. Bung Moktar is expected to be made a deputy chief minister in Hajiji’s Cabinet according to sources while two other deputy chief minister slots remained to be filled. (Astro Awani)
15% rebate for real estate owners in Johor from October
All property owners in the state will enjoy a 15% quit rent rebate for this year from October 1. Menteri Besar Datuk Ir Hasni Mohammad said the 15% rebate on quit rent would be given this year, 10% next year and 5% in 2022. ‘’The quit rent repayment period has been extended until December 14 while current quit rent late payment penalty will be imposed starting Dec 15,” he said. He also explained that the 15% rebate would not be given to quit rent payers who settled the quit rent after December 14 but those who have paid the tax in 2020, the excess payment would be credited to the following year. “This means that for 2021, the rebate received will be 25 per cent,” he said. MTT Group and Eden-On-The-Park to develop first integrated senior living resort in Penang
MTT Group of Companies, through its subsidiary Botanica Hills Sdn Bhd, has signed a JV agreement with Eden-On-The-Park Sdn Bhd to develop the first Integrated Senior Living Resort — Eden at Botanica. CT — in Penang. Occupying a 32-acre parcel in the township of Botanica. CT in Balik Pulau, the project will feature a nursing care residence and low-density Active Living Resort consisting of villas and condominiums in two tower blocks. Eden-On-The-Park has been operating a community health care centre in Kuching, Sarawak. Phase 1 of nursing care residence will form the heart of the masterplan, where Eden-On-The-Park’s core nursing care services will be delivered, in line with its ethos ‘Care with Dignity’. UOA REIT to buy office tower in KL for RM700 million
UOA REIT is buying UOA Corporate Tower in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur from its parent, UOA Development Bhd for RM700 million cash. UOA Corporate Tower is a 38-storey office building measuring 22,927 sq ft. It is being sold to UOA REIT at a 2.5% or RM18 million discount, the developer said. The building, which was completed in 2016, has a net book value of RM586 million and is being sold for a gain of RM114 million. UOA Development said from the total RM700 million proceeds, RM646 million will be utilised to fund the development of District K on Jalan Ipoh, Phase II of the UOA Business Park in 110 Shah Alam, Lot 2507 in Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur and V50, Bangsar South. The group said RM32.36 million would be used as working capital, and RM21.24 million would be used to pay a special dividend of one sen per share upon completion of the related-party transaction. 115 new Covid-19 cases recorded, Sabah still tops list
The number of new COVID-19 cases in the country remains in three digits as 115 cases are recorded today, with Sabah still topping the list with 98 cases, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said that the new cases reported included 112 local transmissions, involving 98 Malaysians and 14 foreigners, as well as three imported cases. He said that this meant that the cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia now surpassed the 11,000 mark, with 11,034 cases. There is a new cluster detected in Selangor, the Jalan Apas Cluster, involving a couple who had a history of travel to Tawau and Semporna, Sabah, from Sept 13 to 16. (Bernama)
