Ho ho ho! It’s December again (how time flies); ’tis the season to be jolly and head out to ooh and ahh at the beautifully decorated malls in the Klang Valley again. Christmas seems to be the best time of year to go out shopping, thanks to all the sales and enticingly attractive gift sets that are just perfect for Christmas gift exchange parties… and of course, the wonderful decorations that seemingly pop up overnight at the various malls. The work of magical Christmas elves, perhaps? Whoever they are, they deserve a hearty round of applause for all the work and effort that goes into giving shoppers a merry Christmas shopping experience. 😀
Update: Check out the awesome Christmas mall decorations for 2016!
17 November 2015 – 3 January 2016
The star of the show this year at Pavilion KL is, without a doubt, the magificent Swarovski Christmas tree standing proud in the mall’s Centre Court. The dazzling 23-meter tall Swarovski Christmas tree endorsed by the Malaysian Book of Records as the tallest Swarovski Christmas tree in Asia, which is made up of a whopping 175,000 clear Swarovski crystals worth RM3 million, and took 180 days of preparation to setup. There’s also an adorable little choo choo train ride just for kids! Besides admiring (and taking selfies with) the tree, you might also want to catch the snowfall that takes place daily at 8pm until 25 December. Who says we can’t have a white Christmas in Malaysia? 😉
Check out the video below to see the magic behind the scenes!
1 Utama Shopping Centre
1 – 27 December 2015
1 Utama Shopping Centre has eschewed the boring old snowy Christmas theme this year for a whimsical Evergreen Christmas Garden. No worries, you can still enjoy a ‘white’ Christmas here, as the garden is beautifully ornamented with pretty whitewashed greenhouses and towering snowflake windmills. Celebrate “An Evergreen Christmas” in a floral wonderland complete with booths selling Christmas gifts and trinkets, activities for the whole family, and Yuletide performances and events.
Mid Valley Megamall

It doesn’t matter if you’re a child or child-at-heart at Mid Valley Megamall this Christmas. Indulge in the spirit of the holidays as Mid Valley Megamall transforms into a quaint little town in the North Pole bursting with colour, where you can spot Santa’s little helpers busy prepping for the upcoming festivities. 21 November 2015 – 3 January 2016
*bloop bloop bloop!* Sunway Pyramid is celebrating Christmas in an aquatic wonderland with its “Christmas in Atlantis” theme this year-end. Immerse yourself in a dazzling underwater inspired themed Christmas – complete with seahorse drawn sleigh – and step into the Christmas tree to see dazzling fairy lights all around! Besides seahorses, you can also meet starfish, dolphins and even mermaids there, and take photos with them to be printed out on the spot. Take ALL the selfies/wefies!
P/S: We suspect the underwater theme is so that Spongebob Squarepantsand his friends at Sunway Lagoon can swim over to the mall for some Christmas shopping! 😛
Berjaya Times Square
21 November – 26 December 2015
Experience the warmth of Christmas at Berjaya Times Square, which has “All Things Warm & Cosy” as their theme this year. Visitors to the mall will be greeted by the huge Christmas tree that has adorned its foyer for many years, and shoppers can browse the garden-like Central Park area for pretty gifts and trinkets befitting the festive season. In conjunction with its theme of warmth, the mall has teamed up with Make-A-Wish Malaysia to organise a charity campaign, and have successfully achieved “Most Number of Pledges Collected in a Christmas Season Charity Campaign” in the Malaysia Book of Records. Now that’s what they mean by ‘sharing is caring’! 🙂
Setia City Mall
25 November 2015 – 3 January 2016
Even if you’re not in downtown Kuala Lumpur, you can still enjoy the Christmas spirit at Setia City Mall in Shah Alam. There’s a humongous Christmas tree to spread the cheer, as well as the huge Christmas carousel that is the main highlight. Shoppers at SCM can meet Santa, enjoy some melodious musical performances and take a ride on the carousel (kids only). Similar to most of the other malls, shoppers can also redeem special Christmas gifts for shopping here.

You’ve got admit, the Christmas decorations at some, if not most, of the malls are stunningly gorgeous – they seem to pull out all the stops every year to attract visitors and shoppers. Now, we shall have to wait a couple more months to see what these malls will come up with for Chinese New Year…
