Everybody knows Instagram. It’s like a photo album where people post anything and everything for their friends (and the world) to see, each photo painstakingly filtered to suit the user’s aesthetic. According to Search Engine Watch, the app has over 400 million monthly active users, with more than 80 million photos uploaded per day. Now that’s a lot of photos! 😲

Citybase Apartments decided to take a look at some of the world’s most famous tourist attractions and see which ones were the most mentioned in hashtags on Instagram. Disney theme parks, as well as sights in both London and Paris, made up most of the list. Disneyland Park in California takes the top spot with a whopping 12 million Instagram posts, while Florida’s Walt Disney World trailed at second place with over 4 million posts. Third place went to New York’s Central Park (thank goodness people still seem to love green spaces!) and fourth is the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris. Other Disney resorts that Instagrammers seem to love are Tokyo Disney Resort (10th) and Paris Disneyland (18th). The rest are mainly iconic structures or places such as Big Ben, the Grand Canyon, Louvre, Burj Khalifa and St Peter’s Square in Vatican City.

Besides being known as the “happiest place on Earth”, it looks like Disneyland theme parks are also some of the most Instagrammable places on Earth. C’mon, let’s be honest – who wouldn’t want to post their trip to Disneyland on Instagram and see the ‘likes’ and envious comments pour in?! 😛

Pretty sure that all of us have a secret wish to visit all these awesome places and take similarly awesome photos, right? Although we may not have a Disneyland in Malaysia, we do have pretty cool places like Hello Kitty Town and Legoland (theme park), as well as the Petronas Twin Towers (iconic building) which make for perfectly amazing social media snaps! There are plenty of Instagram-worthy places in Malaysia too (besides all those artsy fartsy cafes), so why not take a short trip to some of these places to spice up your Instagram feed? 😉
