Update: Since the Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM) is such a popular annual event, we decided it would be best if we updated this post every time it comes around so that you’ll be able to easily find out which roads will be closed for the event. 😉

For 2018, it will be held on 7 – 8 April (Saturday and Sunday), kicking off at Dataran Merdeka. Most of the roads affected will be closed from early as midnight (12.00 PM) on Saturday until as late as 2.30 PM on Sunday afternoon. More information from the SCKLM2018 website.

Some 26 roads in and around the city centre will be partially or fully closed for the marathon, which sees thousands of participants running on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, past famous landmarks like the Dataran Merdeka, Petronas Twin Towers, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Tugu Negara, Masjid Negara and more. The organisers estimate there will be about 38,000 participants for this year’s SCKLM.

The police and organisers will be working closely together to make sure everything runs smoothly with minimal obstruction of traffic. The public are urged to plan their travels accordingly on Sunday and use public transport if possible. Selected LRT and MRT stations will be open from 2.00 am to 6.00 am free-of-charge for runners to commute to and from the city centre.

Note: The road closure map for 2018 is not available, but the 2017 version below shouldn’t be very different.
