Hari Raya is just around the corner! If you’re been out shopping lately, you’ll notice that many – if not all – of the malls already have their Raya decorations up, along with the usual sales and promotions (although that could also be due to the zero-rated GST implementation starting June 1). Either way, it looks set to be a good Hari Raya this year, so why not head out to the malls for a spot of shopping and admire the mall décor in the evenings or weekends!

Pavilion KL
17 May – 24 June
As usual, Kuala Lumpur’s most popular shopping mall is decked out to the nines for Raya, and we are absolutely dazzled! Why? Because Pavilion KL has once again teamed up with Swarovski to bring us the first ever crystallised swing in Malaysia at its Centre Court. In line with its ‘Raya Seribu Impian’, or Celebration of a Thousand Dreams theme, the crescent seat amongst more than 10,000 Swarovski crystals that fill up the Gold Ring structure is the perfect spot for photos in your best Raya outfit! There will also be various workshops, performances, pop-up stores and promotions in conjunction with the festivities!

Mid Valley Megamall
24 May – 19 June
Mid Valley Megamall’s Centre Court is alive with festivity this Hari Raya! Relax in the kampung atmosphere and enjoy a performance or two while you shop within the mall’s cool confines. Enjoy the festive mood with kampung-style booths and weave timeless friendships with fun activities under the bougainvillea. Pick up some traditional delicacies to treat your guests at home, or a charming decor item from the wares on offer. There’s something for everyone here, from the food-lover to Instagram influencer, and the colourful decorations are sure to make your shopping experience a cheerful one!

Suria KLCC
22 May – 17 June
Suria KLCC invites you to celebrate a joyful and traditional Raya this year, with a life-sized kampung house and the tallest giant ‘ketupat’ décor replica in Malaysia! Enjoy traditional performances throughout the festive period, and you can also do your part for charity by donating RM 10 to the “We Care Journey” campaign to bring joy to children afflicted with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. However, to be honest, we’ve seen both the kampung house and giant ketupat décor at KLCC before; while both indeed suit the season, we’re hoping to see a bit more variety in the future.

1 Utama Shopping Centre
23 May – 19 June
This Hari Raya, 1 Utama brings us on an exotic journey to Morocco! Take a leisurely stroll through the Moroccan-inspired city where you can find beautiful architecture, water fountains, palm trees, delicious buka puasa cuisine, arts and crafts, cultural performances and weekend souks. Soak in the Hari Raya festivities which combines arts and culture that is rich in heritage and tradition.

Sunway Pyramid
24 May – 24 June
This Hari Raya, Sunway Pyramid brings the Radiance of Raya to life in the form of bamboo and lights, creating an ambience like no other this coming Aidilfitri. Play a game or two of congkak with your friends, or take a walk inside the traditional Malay house for a blast from the past. Of course, take selfies and wefies with the quaint decorations all before continuing your Raya shopping. You can also take home beautiful batik pieces when you shop at Sunway Pyramid during the festive season!

The Curve
18 May – 17 June
We’re absolutely loving the out-of-the-box Raya decorations at The Curve this year! Besides having an awesome retro train station theme, there will also be dance performances and musicals to entertain shoppers while they shop and snap photos at The Curve railway station! (The shops surrounding the train make it even more authentic and pretty!) Experience wonderful nostalgia as you journey back to the place where the fondest memories of Raya are made – because let’s be real, it’s been a while since many of us travelled back home via train.
