In Part 1 of this series, we showed you some really amazing properties that $1 million can get you. You can be sure that that isn’t the extent of the list, so here’s Part 2 to show you more awesome places that can be bought with 1 million (US) dollars!
A single bedroom condominium in Tokyo
For $1 million (and topping up a bit extra), you can get a one-bedroom condominium with a balcony in Tokyo’s central Shinjuku district. Located 10 minutes walk away from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and several international hotels, it’s one of the best locations within the bustling metropolis that is Tokyo, Japan. A small apartment in Hong Kong
In a city where land is more expensive than gold, $1 million won’t take you far if you’re hoping for a 2- or 3-bedroom unit. It won’t even get you a 296 sq ft flat in Sheung Wan, which costs HK$8 million (approx $1.04 million). If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to find a cozy little apartment slightly further away from the central business area, and for those willing to commute, there are village houses in Sai Kung that are available for less than HK$7 million. A villa in Greece
To be exact, a 4-bedroom villa on the island of Crete, with landscaped gardens and open kitchen. You also get a terraced with swimming pool, barbecue pit, and a breathtaking view of the big blue ocean. Just thinking of a place like that makes you want to pack your bags for a getaway, so imagine what it would be like if you actually owned that place. (Stuff NZ)
A 2-bedroom apartment in Paris
Say bonjour to the City of Love. Those with a more romantic streak will look for properties in Paris, France. For $1 million, you’ll be able to get a 2-bedroom apartment in crowded high-priced Paris, located fairly close to the city. (Prestige Property Group)
A 3-bedroom maisonette in Singapore
Maisonettes are very popular in land-scarce Singapore, as they are apartments that have 2 floors, thus having more space than regular apartment units. $1 million (approximately S$1.3 million) will see you comfortable in a 3-bedroom maisonette or one of the newer condominiums, with easy accessibility to public transport and retail outlets. Purchasing landed property for around that price is very rare, but not unheard-of. (Straits Times)
2 weeks stay at the Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland
Okay, so technically this isn’t a property you can buy, but it’s definitely one of the most luxurious places you can spend a million dollars. A night at this 18,000 square feet hotel suite will cost you $65,000 and includes 12 bedroom, 12 marble bathrooms (with hot tubs), private elevator and a dining room that seats 26. There’s also 24 hours room service available, and the room has bulletproof glass and a private access elevator. (U.S. News)
